Dec 1685 in Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ; m., about 1639 in Gravesend, Long Island, NY, to Rebecca ____ (b. about 1618); they resided in Gravesend, Long Island, NY, and later in Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ; their children:

        i. John, b. about 1640;
       ii. Josiah, b. about 1648;
      iii. James [Jr.], b. about 1650, d. 1 Apr 1715, m. Alice ____;
[#2]   iv. Joseph, b. about 1651-52, d. about Mar 1689, m. Hannah LAWRENCE;
        v. Abigail, b. 1654, d. 8 Jan 1720, m. Benjamin BORDEN;
       vi. Safety, b. 1658, d. after 1727, m. Mercy ____;
      vii. Hannah, b. about 1660, m. 1st Richard GARDINER, m. 2nd William WINTER.
James [Sr.] was a justice for the towns of Middletown and Shrewsbury and for Monmouth Co., NJ. He was a lieutenant in the Middletown company of New Jersey Militia.


(2) Joseph GROVER, b. about 1651-52 in Gravesend, Long Island, NY, d. about Mar 1689 in Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ; m., in Monmouth Co., NJ, to Hannah LAWRENCE (b. about 1660; daughter of William & Elizabeth LAWRENCE); they resided in Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ; their children:

       ii. Elizabeth, b. 7 Jun 1685, d. 18 Jan 1763, m. Gershom STILLWELL;

       iv. Susannah, b. before 1689, d. 1711, m. Joseph BORDEN;
        v. Mary, b. before 1689, d. about 1733, m. Capt. David JOHNSTON;
       vi. Rebecca, b. before 1689, d. 1720, m. 1st William BOWNE,
		m. 2nd Joseph BORDEN;
      vii. Deborah, b. before 1689, d. 1786, m. Thomas SHEPHERD;
Joseph was the constable for Middletown, NJ.
