CHIRICAHUA NATIONAL MONUMENT ON VINTAGE POSTCARDS

Chiricahua National Monument is located in southeastern Arizona about 40 miles southeast of Willcox. It was set aside as a national monument on April 18, 1924, by proclamation by then president Calvin Coolidge. The monument preserves an exceptional landscape characterized by weirdly beautiful pinnacles and columns eroded in volcanic rocks high in a forested range.

The vintage postcards in this exhibit depict scenes of areas that are in Chiricahua National Monument. The postcards date from the middle twentieth century to the 1970s. The actual text printed on the postcards is in quotation marks.
