Hugh S. ROSS is believed to have a brother John ROSS.

ROSS, b. 1790 KY (place unknown), d. 8 Feb 1858 in Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN; m., 29 May 1817 in Jefferson Co., KY, to Sarah MILLER (b. about 1795, d. unknown; daughter of Abraham MILLER and Martha BLEVINS); they resided in Jefferson Co., KY, Clark Co., IN, and then in Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN; their children:

        i. J. A. Miller, b. 1818, m. Charlotte HAIL; 
       ii. Martha, b. 1821, d. Jun 1853, m. John HADDON; 
      iii. Elizabeth, b. 19 Jul 1835, m. John E. NEAL; 
[#2]   iv. Sarah J., b. 19 Jul 1835, d. 23 Dec 1873, m. James Love NASH; 
        v. Anna, b. unknown, m. Mr. CULBERTSON; 
       vi. John, b. unknown, m. Hannah RUBLE; 
      vii. Hugh?, b. unknown, m. Lucinda E. ____. 
Hugh S. ROSS was a corporal in Capt. Beggs Co. of Light Dragoons, IN Militia, in 1811 in the Battle of Tippecanoe. He was a soldier in Capt. Edward Rawlings' Co., KY Militia, February 1813 during the War of 1812. He was a soldier in Capt. James Bigger's Co. of U. S. Mounted Rangers, May 1813 to May 1815 during the War of 1812.

Hugh S. ROSS was a lawyer and school teacher in Carlisle, IN.


(2) Sarah J. ROSS, b. 19 Jul 1835 in Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN, d. 23 Dec 1873 in Haddon Twsp., Sullivan Co., IN; m., 16 Sep 1854 in Haddon Twsp., Sullivan Co., IN, to James Love NASH (b. 16 Mar 1829, d. 10 Oct 1896).
