(1) Samuel MATTHEWS [Sr.], b. about circa 1627 probably in England, d. 1695 in Jamaica, Queens Co., NY; burial: place unknown; m., probably in Jamaica, Queens Co., NY, to Susannah "Susan" STRICKLAND (daughter of John STRICKLAND); they resided in Jamaica, Queens Co., NY; their children:

        i. Samuel [Jr.], d. 1700; 
       ii. Mary, m. Joseph SMITH; 
[#2]  iii. Susannah, b. about 1679, m. 1st. Thomas SMITH, 2nd. Timothy BAKER [Jr.].

Samuel MATTHEWS [Sr.] was a magistrate for Jamaica, Queens Co., NY.

(2) Susannah MATTHEWS, b. about 1679 in Jamaica, Queens Co., NY, d. unknown in Maidenhead Twsp., Hunterdon Co., NJ; m. [1st], about 1697-98 in Maidenhead Twsp., Hunterdon Co., NJ, to Thomas SMITH (d. 1702, son of John SMITH).

Susannah MATTHEWS m. 2nd, about 1703 in Maidenhead Twsp., Hunterdon Co., NJ, to Timothy BAKER [Jr.] (b. 8 Dec 1675, d. 1747).
