If anyone has information regarding the ancestry of Edmund HODGES or any other information about this direct HODGES family line, please contact us.

Some secondary sources without primary documentation say that Edmund's parents are either Thomas HODGES & Christiana WOODSON or William HODGES & Deborah WOODSON. We have not seen primary sources to verify either claim.


(1) Edmund HODGES, b. about 1709 in VA, d. 1782 either in Pittsylvania Co., VA or in Montgomery Co., KY (his will was probated in Pittsylvania Co., VA, 17 Dec 1782); m. 1st, probably about 1730-31 in VA, possibly to Mary ____ (b. unknown), they resided in Goochland Co., VA; their children:

        i. David, b. about 1731-36, m. Elizabeth PAGE;
       ii. Susannah, b. about 1733-38, m. John SLATON / SLAYDEN;
      iii. Thomas b. about 1734-41, m. Sandra HORN;
       iv. John, b. about 1730-38, m. Judith PERKINS or Deborah LEE;
        v. Martha, b. about 1739-43, m. Samuel MOSELY;
       vi. Moses, b. about 1735-55;
      vii. Elizabeth, b. about 1741-46, m. John JACKSON;
     viii. Mary, b. about 1737-39, m. Daniel A. GRUBB;
[#2]   ix. Agnes, b. about 1741-44, d. 29 Mar 1803, m. Capt. Marvel NASH [Sr.];
        x. female, b. unknown, m. William GOODMAN.

Edmund HODGES m. 2nd, in about 1756, to Nephany WALKER (b. unknown, d. unknown, daughter of John WALKER); they resided in Goochland Co., VA, and then later in Pittsylvania Co., VA; their child:

       xi. Joseph Jesse, b. 13 Jun 1757, m. Elizabeth Nancy COLLINS.

The information above is based on secondary sources without primary documentation. We have not seen primary sources to verify it.


(2) Agnes HODGES, b. about 1741-44 probably in Goochland Co., VA, d. 29 Mar 1803 in Lincoln Co., KY; m., 26 Oct 1762 in Goochland Co., VA, to Capt. Marvel NASH [Sr.] (b. about 1741, d. 1826).
