Hoppy Merchandise

An incredible number of toys, souvenirs, memorabilia, promotional items, and other merchandise were marketed under the Hopalong Cassidy name and logo. Some of these items in my collection were saved from my youth. Others were acquired in later years.

Here is a metal ring with a photo of Hoppy under a round glass. It is adjustable and the top is 5/8 inches in diameter.

Here is another metal Hoppy ring. The top lifts up to reveal a "secret" compartment! It is also adjustable and the top is 3/4 inches in diameter.

Here is a "good luck" token or medal made of aluminum. It is 1 1/8 inches in diameter.

Here are two View-Master 3-D reels. Reel number 955 is titled "Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) and "Topper"". Reel number 956 is titled "Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) in "The Cattle Rustler"". Click on the images to see a larger view.

Here are scenes from each of the reels.

This metal Hoppy sheriff's badge is 2 1/8 inches in diameter.

Here is another larger metal (probably brass) sheriff's badge; it is 3 1/2 inches in diameter.

This black glass marble has a white image of Hoppy on it. It is 15/16 inches in diameter.

This silvery metal money clip has a picture of Hoppy under a glass. The round part is 1 11/16 inches in diameter.

Here are three pocket knives. They are all made by the Novelty Knife Co. and are 3 1/2 inches long. The left one has one blade and has colorful views on one side of Hoppy's horse Topper. The center one has two blades and colorful views on both sides of Hoppy and his horse Topper. The right one has one blade and has a colorful view on one side of Hoppy.

Here is one of the Hoppy watches so coveted by children in the 1950s! The black leather band has western symbols embossed on it in silver color. The back of the watch has "Good Luck from Hoppy" engraved on it. It is made by US Time and is 1 inch wide.

This is a Hoppy ballpoint pen. It is 5 3/4 inches long and is a Parkette manufactured by the Parker Pen Co. "Hopalong Cassidy" is engraved on the black plastic part. Click on the image to see a larger view.

This is a simulated leather wallet with colorful Hoppy designs on both sides. It is 4 3/8 inches wide folded and 3 3/8 inches high. Click on the image to see a larger view.

In pockets inside the wallet are a "Special Agents Pass", and a "Lucky Token" (1 1/4 inches in diameter) made of foil covered cardboard:

This is a bronze colored metal belt or pocket clip. It has a small round glass window which originally may have had a small picture attached behind it. The words "Hopalong Cassidy" and "Bar 20" are part of the raised design. It is 1 x 2 inches in size.

A vintage postcard of the actor William Boyd. It was published by Editorial Grafica, Barcelona. Click on the image to see a larger view.

Here is the only picture I can find of me in my complete Hoppy clothes outfit and a pair of Hoppy toy pistols and holsters. Alas, I did not save these!

The June 12, 1950, issue of Life Magazine had a major article about Hopalong Cassidy. Here is a scan of a portion of a picture in the article showing what my Hoppy outfit looked like. I have the original front cover and article from this issue.

Here are two images illustrating some of the Hoppy merchandise available at the time. The top image is from the June 12, 1950 Life Magazine issue. Note the price of the items at that time!

The bottom image is from the 1951 issue of the Hopalong Cassidy Troopers News.
